A Hip Replacement Option for Active People

The French version of the E-1 Active Articulation Hip has been successfully used in Europe for more than 20 years. And it’s now available for active patients here at the Kennedy Center.

The E-1 active articulation hip changes the way athletes and very active people can live with a total hip replacement. After a traditional hip replacement, patients are told they can bend their hip and knee laterally to the outside, but are instructed not to torque the knee and hip in an internal rotation or risk dislocating the hip. Hip dislocation is a major problem after conventional hip replacement surgery—especially in very active adults.

The greatest benefits of the E-1 active articulation hip are enhanced stability, greater range of motion and a smoother and more comfortable walking motion. In addition, the bearing surfaces are ten times more resistant to wear than traditional bearings.

Jeffrey McLaughlin, MD, will evaluate your specific situation and determine if you are an appropriate candidate for this revolutionary new hip replacement system.
